Measurable Success for JA of Chicago

We believe that in order to make the best use of every investment made by our supporters, we must continually prove that JA programs have a positive impact on the students we reach, as well as the volunteers who deliver our programs. In studies for JA Worldwide by external evaluators, JA students demonstrate a significant understanding of economics and business knowledge and an enhanced desire to stay in school and pursue a career in business - particularly those exposed to programs at consecutive grade levels. You can read more about these important studies on JA Worldwide's website.

In order provide more local results though, JA of Chicago recently focused on two important research projects that will have lasting, positive implications for JA in the Chicago area and throughout the world.

A year-long program evaluation project measured the impact on student knowledge and perceptions, comparing the “JA in a Day” channel of delivery to Junior Achievement’s traditional channel of delivery, the “weekly” method. The study, conducted by an independent evaluator, revealed that both channels of program delivery are necessary and effective, and both methods should continue to be utilized to further JA's mission.

Additionally, our year-long branding project consisted of in-depth interviews and workshops with local JA classroom volunteers and volunteer organizers. The study identified common traits of JA volunteers, as well as the characteristics of successful organizations that provide volunteers for JA. The research, which was compiled in an extensive document entitled, "Another Day, Another Hero ", provided further proof that involvement in JA generates positive returns for individual volunteers and participating organizations.
