JA of Chicago

A Welcome from the President and Chairman

To Our Valued Investors and Friends:

It takes more than an economic crisis to derail Junior Achievement from its mission.

At no time in recent history has the need for work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy been more evident. These "three pillars of success" are critical for Chicago-area youth as we count on their future leadership and ingenuity to ensure a strong economy and healthy capitalist system.

In the 2009 school year, JA of Chicago was able to grow student outreach by over 3 percent, bringing the total number of students served to 381,227. This is a glowing testament to the dedication of over 12,000 classroom volunteers, whose spirit and commitment continue to make JA of Chicago the most successful JA operation in the country for program growth and financial strength.

However, we are most proud of the impact our programs make on student learning. Our professionally prepared curriculum aligns with state learning standards and is regularly measured to ensure educational impact. According to year-end responses, educators felt students gained valuable skills from our lesson plans and gave JA's program effectiveness the highest rating (9.3 out of 10) since the inception of our educator surveys.

Thank you again for supporting JA during the most difficult of economic times - your incredible investments of time and resources have never been more important. By helping JA spread the entrepreneurial spirit to the children of today, you are preparing the leaders of tomorrow to succeed in a global economy.
