Financials & Annual Report

Junior Achievement of Chicago was founded in 1940 and provides economic education programs at no cost to schools and students in the Chicago area.

2012 Annual Report:
Junior Achievement of Chicago had a great 2011-2012 school year.  We reached more students than ever before, while also implementing new quality programs in our schools.

Highlights:

  • Outreach: JA of Chicago reached 431,281 students (25% market penetration and a 5% increase over the prior year) in our 12-county outreach area in Chicago and the suburbs.
  • Programs: We held our first ever JA You’re Hired! program, which provided students an inside look into the workforce, networking, and interviewing process.  JA also provided more than $100,000 scholarships and awards to 24 outstanding high school students.
  • Events: We host several signature events throughout the year to raise money to support our programs, as well as raise awareness about our mission. Warren Buffett also showed his support for JA at an exclusive event, which raised over $1 million for JA of Chicago’s endowment fund.
